The Ultimate Guide to Waikiki Marriotts

With my recent stay at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani, I’ve finally stayed at every Marriott in Waikiki. That means I can finally write my Ultimate Guide to Waikiki Marriotts to help those of you loyal to Bonvoy decide where to stay.

All of the major brands have at least some representation in Waikiki. However, no one has the diversity that Marriott has, which can make deciding which property to choose quite difficult. To help with that, I’m going to create an Ultimate Guide to Waikiki Marriotts that will also link to my detailed reviews of each property.

However, before we dive in, it’s important to note that prices can vary WILDLY. I’ll do my best to report on pricing, but know that it almost impossible to give a clear, accurate picture for all dates. Further, the Courtyard can, at times, cost more than luxury properties. Yeah, I don’t get it, either. But, anyway, let’s dive in.

Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki Beach

The first property in my Ultimate Guide to Waikiki Marriotts is the only limited-service property Marriott has in Waikiki – the Courtyard Waikiki. But don’t let the brand fool you. This Courtyard has more services than others, including valet-only parking.

The Laylow, Autograph Collection

The second property in my Ultimate Guide to Waikiki Marriotts is one of the company’s newest properties in Waikiki and one of the hottest properties in the area – The Laylow. Despite not being on the beach, younger crowds love the mid-century modern vibe and the trendy restaurant and bar that is reminiscent of an urban oasis.

Moana Surfrider, a Westin Resort & Spa

The third property in my Ultimate Guide to Waikiki Marriotts is the grand old lady of Waikiki – the Moana Surfrider. At well over 100 years old, the Moana is the first true hotel in Waikiki. And though much of the area around it has changed, the Moana’s main building still looks quite similar to the way it did when it first opened.

The Ritz-Carlton Residences Waikiki Beach

The only true representative of Marriott’s luxury brands in my Ultimate Guide to Waikiki Marriotts is the Ritz-Carlton Residences Waikiki Beach. While not on the beach, most rooms feature ocean views, washers and driers, and a well-stocked kitchenette. True to its name, the rooms here do feel a lot like luxurious studio apartments.

Sheraton Princess Kaiulani

The neglected child of the Marriott’s in Waikiki, this next property in my Ultimate Guide to Waikiki Marriotts provides outsized value for those that can tolerate its deficiencies and quirks. And that’s sad, given that the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani is named after the last heir-apparent of the Kingdom of Hawaii, and a fierce advocate for her people.

Sheraton Waikiki

At 1,636 rooms, the Sheraton Waikiki is the largest hotel by room count in my Ultimate Guide to Waikiki Marriotts. It’s also the only beachfront Marriott on the list that doesn’t actually have a beach in front of it. That said, a beach is nearby. After all, it is right next door to and shares facilities with the Royal Hawaiian Hotel.

Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa

At 1,310 rooms, the Waikiki Beach Marriott is the second largest hotel in my Ultimate Guide to Waikiki Marriott, and is the home to Marriott’s regional offices. After all, pre-Starwood merger, this property was the largest Marriott property in Waikiki.

Ultimate Guide to Waikiki Marriotts, Final Thoughts

There you have it. Waikiki is home to eight Marriott properties, including one Courtyard, two Sheratons, one Westin, one Luxury Collection resort, one Autograph Collection hotel, one Ritz-Carlton Residence, and one Marriott. Choosing which property to stay at can be difficult, especially if you aren’t familiar with Waikiki, so I hope my Ultimate Guide to Waikiki Marriotts helps!
